Our Membership

To qualify for direct-descendant membership, you must be a natural descendant of one of the original 16 families who the King of Spain commissioned to establish the Villa de San Fernando de Bexar which became the City of San Antonio. Genealogical documentation is required to verify the lineage on your application. Membership dues for this category are $40 annually, and you have full voting rights with this membership tier. An application processing fee of $25 is due upon application submission.

Junior Membership is for children who are direct descendants of one of the original 16 Canary Islands families. This category is for children of Direct Descendant Members up to the age of 18 years, at 19 years of age they will be eligible as Direct Descendant Members upon payment of annual dues. There is a one-time initial membership dues of $15 for Junior Membership with no annual membership dues. An application processing fee of $25 is due upon application submission.

Friends of CIDA Membership is open to anyone who is a friend of the Association and believes in the furtherance of the Canary Islands Descendants Association. Membership dues for this category are $35 annually. There is no application processing fee for this membership category.

Affiliate Membership is for anyone interested in our organization and is a member in good standing of a sister Canary Islands organization. There are no annual dues for this membership category nor an application processing fee.
